Frequently Asked Questions

NS1 antigen is the right test during Days 1–5 of fever when the virus is actively circulating. After Day 5, antibodies begin to appear and IgM is the preferred marker. The Dengue Combo test (NS1 + IgM + IgG) covers the full disease window and is the single most efficient option if you are unsure how many days of fever have passed.
Scrub typhus is a bacterial infection caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, transmitted by chigger mites found in scrub vegetation. It presents with fever, rash, and sometimes a characteristic eschar (black scab). It is frequently missed in tricity patients returning from hill areas of Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand. An IgM scrub typhus ELISA is the diagnostic test of choice.
Both are inflammation markers, but Procalcitonin rises specifically in response to bacterial infection and sepsis, making it far more specific than CRP (which rises in any inflammation including viral infections and autoimmune disease). PCT levels also track treatment response rapidly — falling within 24–48 hours of effective antibiotic therapy.
Yes. The 4th Generation HIV combo test detects both p24 antigen and HIV 1/2 antibodies simultaneously, reducing the window period to approximately 15–20 days from exposure (compared to 45–90 days for older antibody-only tests). It is the current standard of care recommended by NACO, WHO and CDC.
Yes. For critical infectious disease tests — blood cultures, dengue NS1, malaria, PCT, and HIV — we operate an urgent testing protocol. Please inform our reception that you require priority processing. Critical results (positive blood cultures, very high PCT, positive malaria films) are communicated by phone to the requesting clinician immediately.
