Frequently Asked Questions

FSH, LH and Estradiol (E2) must be tested on Day 2 or Day 3 of your menstrual cycle (Day 1 = first day of full flow). Progesterone for ovulation confirmation should be tested 7 days after expected ovulation, typically Day 21 in a 28-day cycle. AMH can be tested on any day of the cycle.
Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is produced by small follicles in the ovary and reflects your total remaining egg supply (ovarian reserve). A low AMH suggests diminished ovarian reserve, which may affect natural conception and IVF response. Importantly, AMH can be drawn on any day of the cycle, making it the most convenient and reliable ovarian reserve marker.
A PCOS panel at Altus Lab includes FSH, LH (Day 2/3), Estradiol, Total & Free Testosterone, DHEAS, SHBG, Prolactin, TSH, Fasting Insulin, Fasting Glucose, and AMH. The 2023 International Evidence-Based PCOS Guidelines recommend AMH as a key diagnostic marker alongside clinical and ultrasound features.
Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition where antibodies attack phospholipid-binding proteins, causing abnormal blood clotting and recurrent pregnancy loss. Testing includes anti-cardiolipin (IgG & IgM), lupus anticoagulant, and beta-2 glycoprotein-1 antibodies. It is recommended for women with 2 or more consecutive miscarriages before 10 weeks, or any loss after 10 weeks.
